The Giao Hoa Industrial Park was approved by the Prime Minister to be added to the development plan of industrial parks in Ben Tre province according to Official Letter No. 1352/TTg-KTN dated August 10, 2009, with an initial scale of approximately 270 hectares. On December 22, 2014, the project’s area was adjusted down to 249 hectares (a reduction of 22 hectares) according to Official Letter No. 2628/TTg-KTN. This scale continues to be maintained in the Ben Tre provincial planning for the period 2021–2030.

On July 14, 2021, the Ben Tre Provincial People’s Committee approved the detailed construction plan at a scale of 1/2000 for the Giao Hoa Industrial Park in Decision No. 1566/QD-UBND, with a planned area of ​​248.51 hectares. The project is located in Giao Long and Giao Hoa communes, Chau Thanh district. The industrial park’s boundaries are defined as follows: the northeast borders Giao Long Port; the northwest borders the port access road; the southwest borders agricultural land and is approximately 400m from Provincial Road 883. The total area of ​​industrial land available for lease is 181.37 hectares, accounting for approximately 72.98% of the total area.

Regarding development orientation, Giao Hoa Industrial Park is a multi-sector industrial park, prioritizing the attraction of clean, environmentally friendly, and high-tech manufacturing projects. The main sectors include: electrical and electronics industry, high technology; textiles, leather and footwear; consumer goods manufacturing; mechanical engineering and construction materials.
