The Tra Kha Industrial Park was included in the Vietnamese industrial park development plan by the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1107/QD-TTg dated August 21, 2006, with an initial planned size of 66 hectares. On November 3, 2006, the project received further approval for establishment under Official Letter No. 1782/TTg-CN, with the adjusted area reduced to 63.9 hectares, including over 43 hectares of industrial land.

During implementation, due to issues related to a portion of the land belonging to the national defense sector, the industrial park was actually only built on approximately 60 hectares. According to the Bac Lieu Provincial Planning for the period 2021–2030, this area was officially adjusted down to 60 hectares to reflect the actual situation.

On April 18, 2007, the People’s Committee of Bac Lieu province approved the detailed construction plan at a scale of 1/2000 for the project according to Decision No. 122/QD-UBND. The industrial park is located in Ward 8, Bac Lieu town (now Bac Lieu city), adjacent to two important transportation routes: National Highway 1A and the 23/8 road – a direct connection to the city center.

The project is invested by Bac Lieu Industrial Park Infrastructure Development Company (under the Management Board of Bac Lieu Industrial Parks), with a total investment of over 285 billion VND, and construction began in 2010.

Tra Kha Industrial Park is oriented to attract industries such as textiles, beer and spirits production, building materials, packaging, fertilizers, and other clean industries.
