1. Project overview and legal information
The Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park was added to Vietnam’s industrial park development plan according to Official Letter No. 1302/TTg-KTN dated July 30, 2009, from the Prime Minister, with an estimated size of approximately 201 hectares. On July 6, 2011, the People’s Committee of Hau Giang province issued Decision No. 1125/QD-UBND officially establishing the industrial park under the name Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park – Phase 1, maintaining the original area of 201 hectares. This size continues to be maintained in the Hau Giang province planning for the period 2021–2030.
The industrial park is located in Tan Phu Thanh commune, Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province. Its advantageous location is bordered to the east by National Highway 1A and to the west by the Ba Lang River, facilitating both road and waterway transportation. The industrial park is also connected to the Can Tho River via an internal port system.
In terms of development orientation, Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park is a multi-sector industrial park, focusing on attracting industries such as pharmaceutical and medicinal product manufacturing; mechanical engineering and manufacturing; food and beverage processing; machinery and equipment repair and installation; logistics services; and high-tech, environmentally friendly industries.
To date, Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park has achieved an occupancy rate of over 86% of its total area. It has attracted many notable investment projects such as the pharmaceutical manufacturing plant of Hau Giang Pharmaceutical, the garment factory of Lac Ty Co., Ltd., and the Nam Thai Son bioplastic manufacturing plant. In addition, the industrial park also houses many businesses operating in fields such as animal feed production, construction materials, and various other supporting industries.
2. Investment costs and incentives
- Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park applies an infrastructure maintenance fee of approximately 4,300 VND/m²/year (equivalent to 0.18 USD/m²/year).
- Electricity prices are calculated according to EVN’s tariff; clean water is approximately 7,500 VND/m³ based on actual usage; wastewater treatment fees start from 6,825 VND/m³, depending on the quality of the incoming water.
- These prices do not include VAT and may be adjusted from time to time.
- The industrial park also offers many attractive incentives for investors. Specifically, corporate income tax is applied at a preferential rate of 10% for the first 15 years; completely exempt from tax for the first 4 years and reduced by 50% for the following 9 years. In addition, businesses are exempt from land rent for the first 11 years and exempt from import tax on goods in the preferential category used to create fixed assets.
3. Geographical location
In terms of regional connectivity, the industrial park is favorably located adjacent to National Highway 1A and easily connects to important economic centers such as: approximately 13 km from Can Tho city center, 21 km from Nga Bay city, 21 km from Can Tho International Airport, 18 km from Cai Cui port, and about 160 km from Ho Chi Minh City.
